Math Summer Assignments 2009 INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUMMER MATH REVIEW PACKETS 1. Select the math review for the course you will be taking NEXT year. Those students taking both Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Geometry should complete the packet for Honors Algebra 2 only. Incoming freshmen enrolled in study skills will not complete the Algebra 1 math packet, but will work on the “Bridge to Algebra” Cognitive Tutor (information forthcoming - mid June) computer program throughout the summer. 2. Follow all directions on the worksheet pages, paying particular attention to which problems allow the use of a calculator and which do not. If it is not specified on the test or with the problem, a calculator is allowed. 3. Even though the questions are multiple choice to allow for ease of grading and data collection, please do not randomly guess on the problems. Show all POSSIBLE work neatly next to each problem. 4. Allow yourself ample time for completion of the review packet. It is not recommended that you complete the entire packet at one time; rather, we recommend that you complete a few problems each week throughout the summer to keep up your skills. 5. If you are enrolled in an Honors level course and have much difficulty completing the review packet for that course, you may consider changing to a regular level course. While you may have to think about some of the problems, every problem in the packet should be within your ability. 6. Your completed packet is due THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS and will count as your first grade. Get the year off to a good start by completing the packet to the very best of your ability. Have a great summer!
